Abrasive safety virtual trainer led course accredited by the British Abrasive Federation

Standard course or Train the Trainer option available.

The improper use, handling and storage of abrasive products can lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents. This has been recognised in the UK and is now covered by legislation. This legislation makes it a legal requirement that operators, and those involved in the use of Abrasive Wheels are properly trained.  

We provide a tailored training programme, accredited by the BAF (British Abrasives Federation), which will ensure that employers meet their legal obligations and equip their employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely use Abrasives. 

We will ensure that all participants have fully understood each section of the course and that they can fully meet all the requirements of the Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice relevant to the safe use of Abrasives.  

Upon successfully completing the training each participant is issued with a BAF certificate. Each certificate lists the participant’s name and unique reference number. The participants name and employer is also entered and listed on the BAF National Register.

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is the collective term covering a number of potentially serious injuries, of which vibration white finger (VWF) is the most commonly recognised.

Face fit tester virtual trainer led course

Tight fitting Respiratory Protection Equipment (RPE) needs to fit the wearers face to be effective. As everyone’s faces are different (and change over time) it is unlikely that one single type or size of RPE will protect all wearers. Therefore fit testing is required to ensure that the supplied RPE is suitable and effective for the wearer.

Face fit tester training enables attendees employees to perform Face fit Qualitative (QLT) testing.

Almost 40% of reported industrial injuries involve manual handling. Intrinsically workplaces involve a considerable amount of lifting and moving. 

The Manual Operations Regulations 1992 require employers to avoid the necessity of employees having to undertake manual handling work. Where this is not possible a suitable and sufficient risk assessment must be made and suitable steps taken to reduce the risk of injury.

Working at height awareness virtual training led course

The Work at Height Regulations (2005) are very important, falls from a height account for more deaths every year in the workplace than any other single issue. Safe working at height training is an essential for anyone where there may be a risk of harm or injury from a fall. The covers essential information on managing and carrying out work at height, including the selection of appropriate access equipment, the hierarchy of risk controls, identification of danger areas and rescue requirements.

The course will identify the relevance and implications of the Work at Height Regulations 2005 so that the individual can comply with their duties, whether planning, controlling or conducting work tasks at height.

This training session is intended as the basic foundation for working safely at height. Course delegates will be provided with the basic information required of anyone tasked with or affected by work at height to ensure safety in the workplace.

It does not cover any specific skills required to carry out a work task or to use specialist height safety equipment; these skills are dealt with by other training sessions. However, candidates will gain a thorough knowledge of all possible methods of controlling the potential fall from height.

Asbestos awareness virtual trainer led course

The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are, or could be liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervise such employees.

In particular, it should be given to those workers in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades where it is foreseeable that asbestos containing materials (ACMs) may become exposed during their work.

Asbestos still kills thousands of workers in the UK each year. When materials that contain asbestos are disturbed or damaged, fibres are released into the air. If these fibres are inhaled they can cause serious diseases. These diseases will not affect the worker immediately; they often take many years to develop, but once diagnosed, it is often too late to do anything.

There are three primary diseases associated with asbestos exposure:

  • Asbestosis
  • Lung Cancer
  • Mesothelioma

    1. If your attendee doesn't satisfactorily our trainer will talk through any misunderstandings and then give the attendee an opportunity to take the test again
  5. If the course has a practical element:
    1. Our trainer will contact you and your attendee in advance with any requirements
    2. At the end of the session, our trainer will set up an individual video call with your attendee
  6. On successful completion of the course, we will send certificates by post to a location selected by the course booker
